Who is this for?

Is it safe to write all these things down?

Yes and No. The Peace of Mind planner is designed to contain all of your most important information in case you need it in an emergency. If you don’t have those details available to your family when they really need it – that will likely mean many stressful months, or even years for them trying to unravel your life and guess your wishes. That said, that same information by it’s very nature is also the most sensitive. It’s important to weigh it’s security with the advantage of having this information accessible.

Where should I store it?

We recommend you keep at least two copies in different locations. One on a USB (or other encrypted digital storage device) and one as a physical copy kept in a locked, fireproof safe. We do not recommend storing completed Peace of Mind on your computer, cloud storage or emails.

Do I need any special software?

If you want to type straight into your Peace of Mind planner and save this information for later, you’ll need to open the file with Adobe Acrobat Reader. Adobe Acrobat Reader is the world’s most trusted PDF viewing software, and is FREE to download. Full instructions for this are provided with your purchase. If you simply wish to print out your Peace of Mind and fill in by hand you do not need any special software.

Housefires, injuries, illnesses like cancer, strokes, heart attacks and a thousand other events could change you and your family’s lives in a moment. When that moment happens they shouldn’t be worrying about finding account numbers or who your insurer is!

Is this a physical folder?

No, this is a digital PDF. You can type straight into it to fill it in or you can print it out and keep it in an actual folder. We recommend you do both.

How long does it take to fill in?

Some people like to sit down and get it all done in a single day, others prefer take their time and do it over a few weeks. We believe that the sooner you have a finished folder, the sooner you’ll have peace of mind! Our recommendation is to set aside time to do a section every day or every week until you’ve completed it.

We’ve spoken to dozens of experts in their fields, including funeral directors, doctors, nurses, lawyers and everyday kiwis who have lived through some harrowing experiences. We genuinely think that this PDF is worth far more the small amount you paid for it.

Is this a legal document?

This is NOT a legal document. It does not replace your will or enduring power of attorney, which are ESSENTIAL legal documents. Think of it more as a how-to guide to help your loved ones, executors or attorneys when you’re not able to.

Most wills or EPoA’s will tell you the ‘what’ but not the ‘how’ E.g. What should happen to my estate, who should care for my children etc, but they don’t tell you how to pay outstanding bills on your behalf, who your investments are with, where your insurance policies are and what you’re covered for, which cemetery you want to be buried in, how your children should be raised, what their favourite foods are etc. Peace of Mind bridges that gap to clearly explain exactly what’s relevant in your life, your wishes, and how to follow through on them in your absence.
