These timeless books for children and dog-lovers have been specially re-released to celebrate Winston’s 15th birthday. Winston’s World: The Beach and its sequel, Winston’s World: The Snow, are photographic storybooks by Debby Heard and writer Sue Allison. The photographs, shot on 35mm film, were taken in pristine New Zealand locations – the beaches and forests of Canterbury and foothills of the Southern Alps. The text is simple and poignant, designed for early readers without being childish.

Debby Heard’s three dogs provided the inspiration for this tale – a picture book of beautiful sepia shots, taken candidly and framed on brown paper. Sue Allison’s words are understated, making this book, ostensibly for children, a tale that can be told across generations.
